Brisbane Forum in Abu Dhabi Enhances Economic Collaboration

Recently, Abu Dhabi hosted a significant economic summit, the Brisbane Forum for Networking and Economic Partnerships, attracting senior officials and business leaders from both the UAE and Australia. This gathering aimed to enhance commercial connections and pave the way for new collaborative ventures.

The delegation from Australia was led by Councillor Fiona Cunningham, the Deputy Mayor of Brisbane, along with more than 40 representatives from Brisbane's governmental and business sectors. The forum facilitated interactive discussions and personalized meetings between Emirati and Australian companies, providing a stage for exploring joint ventures, trade opportunities, and investment initiatives.

Trade between the UAE and Australia has experienced substantial growth lately. In the first half of 2025, the non-oil trade between the two countries surged by 33.4% compared to the previous year, hitting US$3 billion. With the introduction of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), it is expected that bilateral trade will rise from US$4.2 billion in 2024 to upwards of US$10 billion by 2032.

The forum's discussions encompassed various sectors, including industry, clean energy, advanced technology, infrastructure, and tourism. Participants shared insights on enhancing trade flows and investment strategies to facilitate smoother collaboration.

The Brisbane Forum underscored the UAE's dedication to diversifying its economy via international partnerships, positioning Abu Dhabi as a central hub for global business innovation. The event not only reinforced the robust economic and cultural ties between the two nations but also established a foundation for deeper cooperation moving forward.
