According to the ministry, the Kingdom boasts a substantial livestock production, maintaining a national stock of over 22 million sheep, 7.6 million goats, 2.2 million camels, and more than 510,000 cattle. This ample supply plays a crucial role in ensuring food security and fostering self-sufficiency within Saudi Arabia.
Authorities emphasized the effectiveness of the nation's advanced animal health programs and disease prevention strategies, essential for guaranteeing the quality and safety of livestock throughout the bustling Hajj season.
It was also confirmed that the livestock markets and slaughterhouses in Makkah are fully equipped to serve the needs of pilgrims, offering a plentiful selection of premium sacrificial animals. Additionally, field inspection teams and health monitoring initiatives have been enhanced to ensure adherence to safety and health standards.
Officials indicated that these efforts are designed to uphold public health, ensure product quality, and facilitate seamless services for the millions of pilgrims expected to arrive for Hajj.
