Police in Sarnia have confirmed the arrest of a suspect connected to the fatal shooting at Lambton College, ending a manhunt that lasted more than two weeks. Authorities announced that 24-year-old Kyaw “Chin” Doe was taken into custody on Monday following a coordinated police operation.

According to the Sarnia Police Service, investigators located a residence in London where the suspect was believed to be hiding. With support from the London Police Service, including its Emergency Response Unit, officers surrounded the property. Police said the suspect eventually surrendered without further incident and was arrested at the scene.

Doe has been charged with several serious offences, including second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm while prohibited. He remains in custody and is scheduled to face a bail hearing as the legal process moves forward.

The charges are linked to a shooting that occurred in the early hours of April 10 at the Lions Den Pub on the Lambton College campus. The incident reportedly followed an altercation between two groups. During the shooting, Dane Nisbet, a 20-year-old from Sarnia, was fatally injured. Two other individuals were also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police officials expressed condolences to the victim’s family and the wider community. In a statement, Police Chief Derek Davis said the loss has deeply affected those close to Nisbet and the community at large, adding that the arrest may bring some measure of relief as the investigation continues.

The case has already seen multiple arrests. Authorities had earlier charged three other individuals in connection with the incident, including one person facing second-degree murder charges and two others accused of being accessories after the fact.

Investigators had been actively searching for Doe, including canvassing areas linked to him in London. A reward for information leading to his arrest had been increased to $50,000, reflecting the seriousness of the case and the urgency of locating the suspect.

The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation, though police say further proceedings and court actions will determine the outcome. The case continues to draw attention due to its impact on the local community and concerns around safety on and around educational campuses.
