Onyeka Okongwu achieved a milestone that last saw Paul Millsap in the Atlanta Hawks’ NBA Cup matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

Okongwu, now in his sixth season—all with Atlanta—has steadily grown as a key contributor, particularly as an inside scorer and rebounder.

In 34 minutes on the court, Okongwu recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. He made 8 of 14 shots from the field, including 2 of 5 from three-point range.

His two blocks tied him with Millsap for the 13th-most in Hawks history, with a total of 348 career blocks, marking a significant franchise achievement.

The game itself was competitive, with Atlanta opening strong at 33-23 after the first quarter, only for Cleveland to take the lead by halftime. The Hawks regained momentum in the second half, using quick ball movement, limiting turnovers, and scoring efficiently on fast breaks. Atlanta recorded 36 assists, 14 turnovers, and 36 fast break points, while Cleveland had 29 assists, 17 turnovers, and 17 fast break points.

Seven Atlanta players reached double figures in scoring. Jalen Johnson led with a triple-double of 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 28 points, Zaccharie Risacher scored 16, Dyson Daniels contributed 10 points with nine assists, and Okongwu also added his 18 points.

The Hawks improved to 12-8 on the season, holding fifth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Cleveland and Orlando, just behind the New York Knicks. Atlanta will next face the Philadelphia 76ers on the road on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.
