Canadian tennis standout Milos Raonic has officially announced his retirement from professional tennis, saying the “time has come” to step away from the sport that defined most of his life. The 35-year-old made the announcement in an emotional post shared on social media, bringing an end to one of the most successful careers in Canadian tennis history.

Raonic, who hails from Thornhill, Ontario, has not competed since mid-2024. His final appearance came at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he was eliminated in the first round by Germany’s Dominik Koepfer. Persistent injuries, including a shoulder issue in 2025 that never fully healed, ultimately prevented him from mounting another comeback.

At his peak, Raonic reached a career-high world ranking of No. 3 in men’s singles and became known as one of the most dominant servers of the Open Era. He captured eight ATP Tour titles and reached the pinnacle of his career at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships, where he finished as runner-up after losing to Andy Murray in the final.

Over the course of his career, Raonic reached at least the quarterfinal stage in 10 Grand Slam tournaments and compiled an impressive 92–37 record at major events. Beyond statistics, he played a pivotal role in elevating Canada’s presence on the global tennis stage and inspiring a new generation of players.

In his farewell message, Raonic reflected on the people he met throughout his journey and made it clear that retirement does not mean slowing down. He said he remains motivated and eager for the next chapter of his life, carrying the same hunger he had when he first broke onto the tour more than a decade ago.
