LeBron James delivered a strong performance with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 101-94 win over the Houston Rockets in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. The victory gives the Lakers a commanding 2-0 lead as the series now shifts to Houston.

Despite missing key players like Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the Lakers showed depth and resilience with a complete team effort. Marcus Smart added 25 points and seven assists, while Luke Kennard contributed 23 points, helping Los Angeles maintain control throughout most of the game.

The Rockets welcomed back Kevin Durant, who scored 23 points, but he struggled in the second half, managing only three points as the Lakers’ defense tightened. Houston found it difficult to keep pace offensively, shooting just over 40 percent from the field and making only seven three-pointers.

Alperen Sengun led the Rockets with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Jabari Smith Jr. and Amen Thompson added 18 and 16 points respectively. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Lakers’ consistent performance on both ends of the court.

The game remained competitive in the final quarter, but a crucial moment came when Smart assisted James on a fast-break dunk with under a minute remaining, helping secure the win. Kennard later sealed the game with key free throws in the closing seconds.

With momentum on their side, the Lakers will look to extend their lead when the series moves to Houston for Game 3.
