The Oklahoma City Thunder made a strong comeback in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 122-113 on Wednesday night. Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with an excellent all-around performance, scoring 30 points and providing nine assists to help his team level the series 1-1. The MVP winner looked confident from the beginning and played a major role in controlling the game for Oklahoma City.
After losing a dramatic double-overtime Game 1, the Thunder entered Game 2 with more energy and better focus. Oklahoma City improved its defense and offensive execution throughout the match. The team played with greater intensity, especially in the second half, where they managed to slow down the Spurs’ attack and build an important lead. Thunder players moved the ball well, created open shots, and took advantage of San Antonio’s mistakes.
Veteran guard Alex Caruso also gave an important contribution from the bench with 17 points. His experience and defensive effort helped Oklahoma City maintain momentum during crucial moments of the game. Center Isaiah Hartenstein added 10 points and 13 rebounds while helping the Thunder defend against Spurs star Victor Wembanyama inside the paint. Oklahoma City’s defense forced the Spurs into 21 turnovers, which became one of the biggest reasons behind San Antonio’s defeat.
Wembanyama still delivered a solid performance for the Spurs with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks, but he was unable to dominate like he did in Game 1 when he scored 41 points. Rookie guard Stephon Castle tried to keep San Antonio in the contest with 25 points, but his nine turnovers created major problems for the Spurs throughout the game. The team also missed injured guard De’Aaron Fox, while rookie Dylan Harper suffered a leg injury during the match, adding more concern for San Antonio moving forward in the series.
The Thunder also faced an injury concern after forward Jalen Williams left the game early because of a hamstring issue. His condition will now be closely watched before Game 3. Even with the injury setback, Oklahoma City stayed composed and managed to close the game strongly in the final minutes.
With this important victory, the Western Conference Finals series is now tied at 1-1. The next game will shift to San Antonio, where the Spurs will try to regain control on their home court. Meanwhile, the Thunder will look to continue their momentum after a strong bounce-back performance in Game 2. Basketball fans are now expecting another exciting battle between two of the NBA’s most talented young teams.
