In a pivotal meeting in South Africa, officials from Dubai Chambers and Western Cape’s Premier Alan Winde explored strategies to enhance trade and investment relations.

This dialogue centered on reinforcing economic ties and unlocking new business avenues. Highlighting Dubai's seamless business environment, the discussions presented it as an entry point for South African enterprises into broader regional and global markets.

Key topics included Dubai's crucial role in global trade facilitation, enhancing cross-border collaborations, and enabling businesses to tap into international growth.

Premier Winde emphasized the Western Cape's dedication to fortifying partnerships with the UAE, particularly with Dubai, to cultivate robust economic relations.

He noted the strong alignment between Dubai's sectors—including finance, logistics, and tourism—and the Western Cape’s aspirations for economic advancement and job creation. Winde identified numerous sectors ripe for cooperation, such as renewable energy, agri-processing, technology, and infrastructure.

Additionally, he underscored the region's investor-friendly attributes, including political stability and a modern infrastructure combined with a skilled labor force.

Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, was also present. He reiterated Dubai Chambers' commitment to fostering economic ties with South Africa and the Western Cape.

He highlighted the necessity of uncovering fresh opportunities across various sectors, enhancing competitiveness, and attracting quality investments for mutual benefit.

AlShamsi pointed to the significance of strategic alliances among private companies, recognizing them as vital for growth in essential industries and the creation of new business prospects.

He mentioned the recent trade mission from Dubai, which included representatives from local businesses, as a testament to the importance of the South African market, where it stood as Dubai’s fifth-largest trading partner in Africa last year.

AlShamsi regarded South Africa’s robust economic standing and growth capacity as key for Dubai’s business landscape, describing the Western Cape as a vibrant economic center with notable strengths in priority markets, especially in food trade.

This meeting reinforced mutual aspirations to boost trade and investment cooperation, nurture sustainable business partnerships, and generate fresh opportunities for entities in both Dubai and the Western Cape.

The discussions coincided with Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s trade mission to Cape Town, aligning with ongoing initiatives to facilitate Dubai-based businesses' expansion into South Africa.
