Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, the beloved stars of The Mummy series, are returning for a fourth installment. Fraser expressed his enthusiasm, calling it “the one I wanted to make” and revealed he has been anticipating this moment for almost twenty years.

“The project I wished for was never produced… But now it seems to be on the horizon. I’ve been waiting for this call for 20 years, listening closely to signs, both strong and faint. Now is the time to fulfill the fans' desires,” Fraser stated.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence, will direct the upcoming film. Fraser first joined the franchise in 1999, turning the classic Universal monster into a modern action spectacular. The series grew quickly, introducing Dwayne Johnson and branching into various spin-offs, but halted after Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). A proposed reboot featuring Tom Cruise also never came to fruition.

Recently, Fraser reminisced about his earlier films, especially George of the Jungle, saying, “I treasure the memories from that period. I also recall feeling quite hungry back then,” as he laughed over a vintage image with Leslie Mann and the Tookie Tookie bird. He fondly remembered Mann’s wit and the bird’s sharp talons.

Reflecting on his contemporary work, Fraser praised young actress Sadie Sink: “Oh wow, that’s me and Sadie Sink. What a privilege it was to collaborate with such a talented actress at such an early point in her journey… She’s simply amazing.”

Fraser also described the experience of filming Rental Family on a mobile train as a “whirlwind of activity,” mixing extras with everyday commuters, calling the film “a heartfelt note to loneliness” dedicated to Tokyo and its cherry blossoms.
